While litigation and mediation place limits on what can be said in public, there is always a different perspective or opinion that folks have before the judge rules.
We saw this during our 18 year fight with the City of
El Paso when they were trying to drill wells in the
Mesilla
Valley.
Protection of agriculture in general and EBID-constituent water rights in particular are the fundamental goals of EBID. Today, as was done during the
El Paso litigation, there are many folks who have different agendas and motivations who spread rumors and unfounded suspicions about EBID’s motivation.
EBID’s goals are simple and have remained unchanged for decades: Maximize the long-term water supply for EBID constituents and protect the Project water supply from those that would take it away.

The Board of Directors met on Wednesday, August 11th, 2010 and discussed the ending of the 2010 irrigation season. The Board decided that the last order date will be September 1st with a ready date to September 7th. The irrigation delivery date could be extended a few days if rains occur. Deliveries will be scheduled and coordinated with ready dates as much as possible.

YEARS OF NEGOTIATION END IN AGREEMENT
Elephant Butte Irrigation District (EBID), El Paso County Water Improvement District No. 1 (EPCWID), and the United States Bureau of Reclamation (Reclamation) have reached an historic agreement which will finally define the basis for allocating Rio Grande Project Water between the NM and
Texas irrigation districts.
The Operating Agreement resolves issues between the districts dating back to 1979 when the districts were transferred operation and maintenance responsibilities from Reclamation over operations within the respective districts.
