A native of
Las Cruces, Tom began his farming career in 1965 after graduation from NMSU with a degree in Agriculture Business. He joined his father, Clyde Simpson, who was continuing the farming operation begun by T. L. Simpson in 1932. T. L. moved to the
Mesilla
Valley in 1922 and decided to make it his home because it had fertile land, good water and a college where his children could get an education. T. L. bought the present farm site in 1932. Tom continues as the president of Simpson Farms, Inc., managing a highly diversified operation.
He is married to Lacy and they are the parents of Pam Stout and Kent Simpson.
He is the proud grandfather of Austin, Nathan and Kaitlyn Stout.
A believer in community service, Tom is a member of Rotary International,
St. Paul’s
Methodist
Church and several agriculture related groups.
He has previously served on several community, corporate and agriculture related boards and commissions.
Following his grandfather’s lead, Tom believes that water management is vitally important to continuing a strong viable agriculture base in
New Mexico. He is proud to serve on the EBID Board.
