Cothern Dam and Other Projects


Coalition members have recently partnered on a dam rehabilitation project at Cothern Dam west of Las Cruces, New Mexico. Future erosion control projects are being investigated for the Cothern Dam watershed and the neighboring Butler Dam watershed, along with a larger sediment entrapment project near the junction of the Rincon Arroyo and the Rio Grande near Rincon, New Mexico.


Rincon Arroyo Watershed Project


The Stormwater Coalition chose the Rincon Arroyo Watershed (HUC10-1303010203) as a priority project and created a workgroup to address issues within the watershed. The Rincon Arroyo is an ephemeral stream located in Doņa Ana and Sierra Counties and encompasses 85,770 acres (134 square miles). Let us know if you would like to join the working group.
