The Elephant Butte Irrigation District Board of Directors has set a final water order date of July 10th for the Hatch and Rincon Valleys. Farmers have until 4:30 p.m. to place their remaining orders for the 2020 irrigation season. Demand is expected to be very high so do not wait! Please be ready to water when you are notified at any time it is scheduled. Irrigation Systems Director James Narvaez expects the end of the irrigation season to wrap up across the District by the end of August.

EBID advises farmers not to purchase extra water unless they are certain they can use it by the end of season deadline. Water balances are not carried over to the next season and water left in accounts unused provides no benefit.

Orders can be placed by calling the EBID Water Records Department at 575-524-8003 Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM or water orders can be placed online through the farmer services tab on our website at www.ebid-nm.org.

EBID continues to develop its stormwater capture system to aid in both recharging the groundwater aquifer and providing some additional irrigation water in the summer monsoon season. These efforts continue to help the District manage short water supply issues during the region’s ongoing drought.

News and updates can be found throughout the irrigation season on the EBID website, FaceBook page, or by calling the offices at 575-524-8003.
